Low solar activity shutting down Northern Lights / Aurora Borealis

Aurora Borealis
The Aurora Borealis, AKA 'Northern Lights' have been non-existent this year. According to Dirk Lummerzheim, a research professor who studies the aurora borealis for the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute, "we are at a solar minimum."

From Minnnesota to Alaska people are asking, "what happened to the aurora?"
